First Huguenot Church in Carolina

In 1687 the first Huguenot Church in Carolina was built on the corner of Church and Dock Streets in Charleston. Dock Street was so namedbecause water flowed up East Bay Street into Queen Street. Boats weremoored close to the church. Every Sabbath Huguenots living on the Cooper River arrived on the ebb tide.
