Secession

When South Carolina seceded from the union on December 20, 1860, the cannon of rejoicing was fired at Hamburg and was heard as far as Mount Willing and beyond.The cannon fired at Charleston, during the bombardment of that city by the Federals, was heard as far as Ninety-Six.
