Historic Hilton Island, South Carolina
The Hilton Head Light House was built ca 1881 and during World War II served as a lookout tower for enemy ships who were sometimes spotted in this coastal region. Many hurricanes have frequented the area, however, the light house always managed to survive and render its light.
